The Role of Women in Making History: Towards a Gender Lens

The Lebanese Association for History continued its work within the project “The Role of Women in Creating History/Towards a Gender Lens” through a new workshop that lasted for two days, on February 21 and 22.

The workshop, which brought together 14 male and female teachers from both public and private secondary schools, focused on enhancing historical thinking through a range of stimulating strategies and interactive activities. These included methodologies of the historian’s work, starting from the research question, source collection, and the use of historical concepts in analysis and historical interpretation, particularly the concept of historical significance. The goal was to support teachers in guiding students during their research on “Pioneering Women in Their Communities.”

The workshop also centered on the diverse roles of women who contributed to the development of society, which piqued the interest of the participants and opened a discussion on the importance of integrating these role models into history education.

LAH’s facilitators’ team included: Mrs. Leila Zahwi, Mrs. Fida Malak, Mrs. Ibtihaj Al Ashi, and Mrs. Patricia Zgheib
