Events & Activities

Within the framework of the month of Dealing with the Past launched by “Allo Beirut”, the Lebanese Association for History organized a seminar entitled “How will we talk about the Cairo Agreement (1969) to the new generation?” It took place at the Oriental Library in Beirut. Professors Salah Salam, Joe Khoury El Helou, and Antoine Saad participated in this session, and which was facilitated by Dr. Asia Al Mohtar.

Three conclusions can be drawn from this interesting and rich meeting: 1) Lebanon cannot continue without the coexistence of its children, and if there is no coexistence, Lebanon will die. 2) The new generation must be aware that the interest of Lebanon must always come first, for there is no cause or interest that must take precedence over the cause and interest of the Lebanese. 3) There is no possibility of building a modern state if we do not get out of the medieval mentality and go to a system that separates the religious and the political.

The seminar was attended by a large and diverse audience that enriched the discussion with its interventions and questions to speakers.
