Capacity Building

The Lebanese Association for History in partnership with Forum Civil Peace Service (ForumZFD) organized the second two-day workshop within the oral history project “From Local History to a Wider Understanding of the Past” with a group of secondary teachers from public high schools from Mount Lebanon.

After conducting their own interviews with eyewitnesses who lived the civil war, teachers had a wider experience in implementation of oral history techniques. Those include selecting relevant topics, conducting preparatory research, identifying narrators and conducting interviews, in addition to further work on the concept of violence and conflict to build safe environments that allow project participants to deal responsibly with the topic of the war.

Shortly, students will begin implementing their projects and exploring the social and humanitarian aspects of people’s lives during that phase.
